Avatar-150x150My name is Jim Dohms and the focus of my photographic business is Motorcycle, Automobile and Landscape Photography. I utilize a creative artistic approach to my subjects. The majority of my work is done using available light. High Dynamic Range Photography gives me the flexibility to create images with impact at times during the day other than the "Golden Hours". Light, composition and execution are the focus of my attention when behind the camera. The look of the majority of my images is the result of post processing since the style of my photography would not be achievable without it. I respect those who feel that the best image possible can be achieved "in the camera" and I strive to keep editing to a minimum by using good photographic technique. The post processing techniques I use are done so to add an artistic look to the subject.

Many of the motorcycle pictures available today were taken with an attractive model posing in a studio. My approach to motorcycle photography is different. I prefer photographing my subjects in a location that enhances the look of the bike. Unless the person photographed with the bike is the owner I treat the people in my motorcycle images as a prop instead of using the motorcycle as the prop.

My Funky Florida project continues as I add my own artistic interpretation to funky locations around Florida.
I do the majority of printing on a large format Canon printer which allows for prints up to 44" wide. I print and stretch canvas for those clients who like the look of canvas. Currently I have three large canvas prints on loan to Quaker Steak and Lube, a restaurant franchise located near Clearwater Florida. They host a weekly "Bike Night" with a turnout of between 2,000 and 5,000 motorcycles on a good night.

I attend the largest motorcycle events held in Florida including the Daytona Bike Week and Biketoberfest events. I am available by appointment for motorcycle portrait sessions and give the client the opportunity to pose with their bike if they choose. Many of the images in my galleries are available for sale in a variety of sizes and materials. Managed rights images are also available for use on websites and print materials. Contact me via my website for pricing.
