"Great Horned Owl Eye" is the photo of the week. This owl is sitting on it's nest in a hallow of a tree obviously keeping an eye on me (literally) as I take this photo. I originally had this in color but somehow the B&W rendering helps bring out the textures of the tree and highlights the owl better. I tried many crops of this photo but liked this approach since the bark of the tree directs your eye towards the owl. There should be some baby owlets in this nest by early April so hopefully I'll have a chance to photograph them too.
Photographed at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.
