On April 26th, 1986 the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history occured at the Chernobyl power plant. This is a widely known event but the cost to human life and the long lasting effects are often over looked. The effects are still very real today. After the explosion the town of Pripyat was evacuated and an exclusion zone was created. Not long afterwards the locals started to move back into this very highly radiated area and continue to live there.
It's a dangerous area and a tough life, but it is the life these people have chosen. Only the people who live there know just how difficult it is to live in the exclusion zone.
I am planning to document life in the exclusion zone through video and photography.
