Sandy-in-Alaska-100x-1001This gorgeous bird was perched on a dead tree in Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.  It actually let me stop and watch it for a while and then get this image as it flew. What a treat!  It was my first trip to this wonderful wildlife refuge AND my first Peregrine Falcon sighting ever!  After searching all the falcons and hawks in the bird book, I finally decided that this beauty is a Juvenile Peregrine Falcon.  They were endangered but have (according to the bird book) been re-introduced in many areas.
