Bees and Wasps Dining on Pears

Buy this picture
The common image of a honey bee is that of them buzzing from blossom to blossom sipping nectar. However, in the fall, bees and wasps are quite happy to dine on ripe pears. I was quite startled the first time I reached up to pick a pear and discovered that half a dozen wasps were also interested in that pear. I decided that wearing gloves to pick pears would be a good idea.
