Every year we take a trip to Trinidad Colorado; more specifically, up Raton Pass to visit a family of Red-tailed Hawks. A pair of Redtails return to an ancestral nest in small canyon watershed, adding to and rebuilding as needed to raise a new family. Aside from one year that we know of when a freak hail storm killed their 3 nestlings, they have been successful in raising 3 to 4 chicks to fledglings in this same nest for years! Over the past 4 years its been a joy for us to watch and photograph these majestic Red-tailed Hawks care for their family. To learn more or simply view more images of these hawks and many other birds and mammals, visit our web site or blog.
