This Barred Owl touched down on a fence post right next to my car so quietly that I didn’t notice it at first. They are very large and look at those talons! They are birds of prey and catch smaller birds and small animals. They usually hunt at night, so I felt fortunate to have this one land near me. The Barred Owl’s most deadly predator is the Great Horned Owl. That would be quite a sight!! I photographed this Barred Owl on a fence post in Florida near the Moccasin Island Tract, west of the Viera Wetlands.
