I shot this Cattle Egret in flight with nesting material in very overcast, subdued light. The Cattle Egret is a very familiar sight in fields near livestock in Florida. They feed on large insects that the cows or horses disturb as they walk along, sometimes the Egret even rides on the back of the livestock. During breeding season they transform into an extremely vibrant, beautiful bird with orange patches and rose-colored eyes!
