I have a travel bug – ever since I remember I wanted to explore the world. People, journey, new experiences, different cultures, languages.
I’m a Professional Artist and Photographer. Born in Poland, I migrated to United Kingdom in 2004 and to Australia in 2009. I’ve been transient for over a decade and did a lot of international travel. In 2008 I completed my photography course at the London Metropolitan University and won a first prize at the photo competition in London. A year later I made the decision of moving to Australia and start everything from scratch. After a short spell in Queensland, I set up a local freelance photography business & fell in love with the climate of Ballarat Goldfields. Following my photographic career In the UK, I have been busy networking to set up my freelance photography/art business and work as a commercial photographer in Queensland and regional Victoria. My passion for community engagement and community development evolved to volunteering for many local and international community organisations. I’m a proud Sponsor and Supporter of APEX Australia Teenage Fashion Awards and love my experience of getting the best out of young people realising their dreams.
Locally, I have been involved in wide array of editorial and public art projects and commercial photography for private clients and small businesses. My current projects include facilitating We R You large format paste up photography project – a community engagement project modelled on the global JR’s Inside Out initiative; a photographic portrait project 100 Faces documenting people I meet on my journey and Under the Floorboards commissioned Artist Residency with Uniting Care Ballarat, where I created large format mosaic portraits to be auctioned off with proceedings going to fund the Uniting Care Ballarat services.
I enjoy representing the community as a Multicultural Ambassador. As part of this fantastic CoB initiative I enjoy sharing my story and inspire people to explore each other’s cultures. I’m also working on a pilot book project focusing on migrants stories. I’m a big supporter of International Education Programs and our home regularly hosts international students to Australia.
My artwork is held internationally in private collections. If you’d like to say hi, buy a print for your condo or chat about your new project – please get in touch on www.aldonakmiec.com
