One of the interesting things about doing a bird survey is becoming aware of the rhythms in other creatures lives. Sandhill Cranes are hard working birds. At sunrise, they are flying out to their feeding grounds, calling as they fly. They spend all day out and about feeding or resting until sunset when they fly back, again, calling as they fly. It is a distinctive sight and sound.

Beach Palace

Beach House

The original beach houses that you see along the Gulf Coast in north Florida are small one story places seemingly designed for storms to wash over them with minimal damage. Most of the modern beach houses are tall structures set on pilings for the water in a stormr to wash under them with minimal damage. However, some of the new beach houses are palaces that seem to be built to challenge the storms to do their worst. This house, which was still under construction when the photo was taken, promises to be spectacular.
